The Emotional Impact of Cancer
27th 28th February, Preston
The 2014 BPOS conference was hosted by the UCLan Cancer Studies group at the University of Central Lancashire, on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th February 2014. The theme of the conference was ‘the emotional impact of cancer’ and we welcomed an excellent range of speakers. Keynote speakers included on day 1 Prof. Mari Lloyd-Williams (University of Liverpool UK) and Prof. Daniel Kelly (Cardiff University UK), with Prof. Tom Hack (University of Manitoba Canada) giving the keynote on day 2.
A fantastic variety of oral presentations and posters were given on both days. On day 2 there were two workshops offered as part of the programme: “The emotional and physical impact of cancer on sexual wellbeing” (facilitated by Bill Ryder & Susan Williamson) and “Demonstrating Outcomes in Psycho-Oncology (facilitated by Alex King).
Those who came to the conference dinner were not only served excellent food, but were entertained by a local choir.
Conference abstracts are available in the journal Psycho-Oncology http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/pon.2014.23.issue-s2/issuetoc
