1st Student Conference: Surviving the Psychosocial Oncology PhD

27th June, Chester

Our innagural student conference was hosted at the Unviersity of Chester and focussed on how students can cope with, and survive some of the stressors of completing a PhD in Psychosocial Oncology. The morning session was dediated to networking and giving time for each of the student delegates to say a bit about their PhD projects, and to get to know each other. This was followed by sessions on the emotional impact of psychosocial oncology research (Nick Hulbert-Williams and Fiona Kennedy) before lunch, and on maintaining successful relationships with PhD supervisors (Mandy Yilmaz, University of Chester) in the afternoon. The day ended with an FAQ and discussion session with the event organisers and facilitators.

Three of our student delegates wrote full conference reviews for Issue 2 (2012) of our newsletter, which can be accessed in our Members Section.
