Dear BPOS member,
Our current chair, Dr Steph Archer, is stepping down from the role in May. We are grateful for her leadership and direction over the last three years. Her departure has created an exciting opportunity to appoint a new chair of the Society. However, without a Chair, it is unconstitutional to continue. If no-one applies for the position of Chair, the committee will have to begin proceedings to disband BPOS from June. Would you consider applying?
Commitment is high among members and this is a chance to lead and shape the Society in the years ahead. Over the last 40 years, BPOS has played an important role in sharing and building knowledge and expertise for psychosocial cancer research and practice in the UK.
The opportunity is open to BPOS members and non-members. Please consider applying and share this call with others in your team or professional network. Co-chairing could be considered. You will be supported by an experienced executive committee, including administrative support. This is an opportunity to take on a national leadership role at an exciting time for the Society, and has great potential to develop your CV. It is a good opportunity for an early to mid-career researcher or professional in psycho-oncology.
How to apply:
Applicants are asked to submit (i) a covering letter detailing why they would like to become Chair of BPOS and their vision for the Society going forwards, and (ii) a short CV, to Lauren Matheson (BPOS Secretary) on p0043341@brookes.ac.uk
The revised deadline for applications: 30th April 2024.
If you are interested in becoming the Chair of BPOS and would like to discuss the role, please email Steph Archer (BPOS Chair) for an informal chat on saa71@medschl.cam.ac.uk
Best wishes
The BPOS Executive Committee
