British Psychosocial Oncology Society (BPOS) was founded in 1983 after a conference at King's College Hospital in the UK and the first official conference was held in 1984.
BPOS welcomes new members from any professional group interested in the psychological and social factors associated with cancer. It is a multi-disciplinary organisation with members drawn from many specialities. Membership of the Society is helpful to anyone concerned with psychosocial aspects of cancer.
There are twice-yearly newsletters (published in May and November) for all members and the monthly international journal Psycho-Oncology to which Full Members are entitled.
BPOS organises an annual conference with international speakers, where developments in psychosocial oncology are reviewed and research findings are presented. Specialist one-day meetings are also held once or twice a year.
